UNDER 12 MATCH REPORTS 2010 - 11
Crowmarsh Youth FC v. Steventon B – Sunday 12th September
If all of Crowmarsh’s games are as entertaining and exciting as this one then they are in for an interesting season.
Things started promisingly enough for Crowmarsh when, after just 7 minutes, Kai Thomas broke through and when his shot came back off the keeper, Josh Deakin coolly finished to score on his debut. This was followed 5 minutes by another break by Josh whose shot beat the keeper but went agonisingly just wide of the post.
Despite Crowmarsh’s early lead the pattern for the rest of the first half was then set when Steventon broke through and only a great save by Lewis Ward prevented them from drawing level. There soon followed a disastrous period for Crowmarsh that saw them concede 3 goals in 4 minutes which, along with another Steventon goal just before half time, saw them go into the break 4-1 down.
The second half saw good early chances for both sides but no more goals until the final 8 minutes, which saw 5!
The first of these saw Josh Deakin score his second goal of the game to reduce the deficit to 4-2 but Steventon then scored 4 minutes later to reclaim their 3 goal lead and make it 5-2. A minute later Ed Seares hit the post for Crowmarsh but this disappointment soon turned to excitement when in the 58th minute Josh Deakin scored again to complete his hat-trick on his debut and claw back the deficit to 5-3. 2 minutes later an amazing solo run by Ed Seares saw him wind his way past several defenders before slotting home superbly into the bottom corner to make the score 5-4 and set up a nail-biting finale.
